Ice-O-Matic® will offset factory’s carbon footprint through tree donation program

On September 30, 2009 Ice-O-Matic announced a significant tree donation in the state of Colorado. This donation is part of Ice-O-Matic’s industry leading initiative called Green ReLeaf™, designed to help offset their carbon footprint, and consists of enough Ponderosa pine trees to replant between 32 and 48 acres. The Ponderosa pines will be planted as part of the Burn Canyon Fire Restoration project in the Gunnison National Forest where 33,000 acres of forestland were destroyed by a wildfire in 2002 and to date is the largest naturally ignited fire in Colorado history.

In partnership with American Forests, Ice-O-Matic’s goal is to plant 150,000 trees around the globe over the duration of the program to help offset the carbon footprint of their factory and 15 similar type factories. This donation will reduce the carbon dioxide in our air by more than 7 million pounds annually.

“We applaud Ice-O-Matic’s efforts to decrease their carbon footprint and give back to the communities that support them. We’re happy to partner with them on this project,” commented Deborah Gangloff, American Forests’ Executive Director.

“Just as we’re entirely devoted to producing and distributing reliable ice machines, we’re just as committed to the environment and ensuring its sustainability. Additionally, It’s important as a Colorado company to ensure reforestation in our home state,” said Brian Doster, Ice-O-Matic’s Director of Marketing.
