Scotsman Industries Announces their sponsorship of the FIVB Men's World Volleyball Championships ITALIA 2010
 Milano, Italy, August 31st 2010 – Scotsman Ice Systems, a world industry leader in ice production, storage and distribution systems, announces their sponsorship of the FIVB Men's World Volleyball Championships ITALIA 2010.
A total of 24 countries will be participating to the 17th edition of the FIVB Men's World Championships, which will be held in 10 Italian cities (Milan, Ancona, Catania, Florence, Modena, Reggio Calabria, Turin, Trieste and Verona) from September 24-October 10, 2010.
"We will be supplying the granular ice (flake ice) machines to be used in the locker rooms of the various participant Teams for the duration of the Championships. With Italy hosting the tournament, and with the growing interest of the public in volleyball, this is the perfect opportunity to raise the awareness of the beneficial effects of ice in restoring muscular condition and reducing the swelling effects of minor injuries in the athletes of all sports." said Paolo Moro, Sales & Marketing director at Scotsman EME&A – Frimont SpA.
Ice application is essential in many first aid treatments, delivering many beneficial effects including:
- Traumas, sprained muscles, tendonitis, fractures.
- Pain relief (cold stimulates the production and release of endorphins and raises the threshold of pain)
- Vessel-constriction (effect on the receptors of the terminal arteries. When ice is applied during the acute phase, it reduces inflammation and prevents the development of haematomas)
- Soothing of muscle spasm
- Temperature reduction (both at a cutaneous and muscular level, with effects starting one minute after the application)
